A Delicious, Pain-relieving Fruit

You should know about!

All of us produce uric acid as a normal by-product of protein metabolism, but some folks make or retain more than normal (due to genetics or diet). Excess uric acid can deposit in unwanted places – - including our joints — leading to pain and swelling. Normally, excess uric acid is eliminated in our urine. It turns our there are compounds in cherries that may help us to eliminate more of it!

Black cherries are widely available fresh, frozen or juiced. Many folks find that they provide significant help in addressing gout or other types of joint inflammation. However, researcher have learned in recent years that tart cherries may have more of the medicinal compounds that can help with uric acid accumulation and related inflammation.

Dr. Andrew Weil states in an article on the health benefits of cherries:

“There is anecdotal evidence and some interesting research suggesting that the anthocyanins that give tart cherries their color may prove more effective than aspirin for pain relief.”

Of course, a proper diet and plenty of fresh water are bound to be helpful as well. And while many of  us enjoy eating chrries or drinking their juice, they’re a source of sugar and calories, so clever manufacturers are putting cherry extracts into tablets and capsules without all the sugar!

At Bare Essentials Natural Market, we stock a variety of cherry products including tablets and capsules, as well as juices and juice concentrates. Come by for more information!

My solution for tension headaches, lower back stiffness and pre-menstrual pain and cramping and is Multilieve.

Multilieve is an effective combination of herbs and minerals such as:

  • Magnesium and manganese: these minerals relax muscles and strengthen connective tissue to soothe muscular tension.
  • Cordyalis: this root herb invigorates blood, relieving minor abdominal pain, menstrual cramps and digestive discomfort.
  • California poppy: this herb promotes relaxation and relieves muscular soreness from overexertion.
  • Chinese red peony: calms and soothes tissues to provide relief from minor spasms and muscular discomfort.
  • Meadowsweet: a member of the rose family, it’s soothing for general stress and digestive discomfort.

Multilieve is a great alternative for someone who takes NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Aleve, aspirin, Celebrex) on a regular basis. While NSAIDs relieve the pain, they may also have negative long-term side effects. The alternative I choose, Multilieve, is 100% natural and safe for long-term use.

If you’d like to know more, our experienced staff at Bare Essentials Natural Market is available to help you find solutions for your individual needs.

Pain is a signal to our bodies that something is wrong. It causes us to stop and take special care to set it right. Many conventional pain medications simply mask the pain. When the message of pain is suppressed, more damage can be done to an already compromised area.

Natural medicine has solutions for healing the damage that causes pain. By supporting the body’s natural healing process, you can return to normal activity sooner.

A Pain Relief Cream That Works

Topricin is an anti-inflammatory cream that quickly relieves arthritis and back pain. Dr. Andrew Weil also recommends it for relief of carpal tunnel and pains otherwise associated with repetitive motion, injuries, and muscle spasms. This unique formula safely reduces swelling, stiffness, numbness, tingling and burning pain. Topricin is scent-free, unlike other topical products that use strong-smelling substances such as camphor or menthol. It contains ingredients that act on the specific causes of pain, namely damage to muscles, nerves, ligaments and tendons.

Relief for Foot and Ankle Pain

Specially formulated for foot and ankle pain, Topricin’s Foot Therapy Cream is the same unscented cream base as the original but now with more natural ingredients to target pain and inflammation associated with plantar fasciitis, swelling, leg cramps, and peripheral neuropathy.
